Weekly Notes and Reminders

Hello Barranca Mesa Bobcat Families,

• Spring Parent Teacher Conferences are this Thursday and Friday. Please make sure you are scheduled for a conference with your students' teachers.There is no school for students these two days.

• Spring Break is next week, March 17th-21st. There is no school for students.

• This week is the last three days of our Barranca Bookworms Read-a-Thon ending Wednesday, March 12th. Parents, please encourage your students to continue reading. There are many amazing prizes to encourage students to read and form lifelong reading habits. Read Bobcats, read!
• This Monday, March 10th we will have our author assembly with our very own 5th grade teacher and graphic novel author, Mr.Shane Hunt and comic illustrator, Ms.Tracy Bailey. It will be in the gym, Kinder through 3rd grade will be at 1:25-1:55 pm and 4th-6th grades will be at 2:00-2:30 pm.
• Also, Monday is the parent preview of the Puberty Curriculum: The Wonder Years at 5:00-6:30 pm- in the LAPS Board Room
• This Wednesday is the monthly PTO meeting at 6:00-7:00 pm at the SALA Event Center.
• Some important dates to be aware of: Friday, April 18 is a school holiday. There is no school for students or staff. May 29th and May 30th are half days for all elementary school students dismissing at 11:45 am for all elementary schools.
• The School Board approved a final calendar for the 2025-2026 School Year. You can review the calendar here. There are some minor changes from the original draft that was posted. We will update the website.
• Online registration for the 2025-2026 school year is now open for students planning to attend LAPS in the fall. This includes new and returning students, kindergarten and preschool. Go to www.laschools.net/registration for more information and to register using either a computer or smartphone.

• We are still hiring for two educational assistant position. One full time special education EA and one part time kindergarten EA. Please let your friends and family know, if they are interested, they can apply on the LAPS website, https://www.laschools.net/careers/jobs
